At nearly 46
in length, Meridies is a fine example of the Silverleaf
type motor yacht built by the James A. Silver yard at Rosneath, Scotland.
Designed by John Bain and built for the Commodore of the Severn Motor
Yacht Club, Mr. H.L. Brookes, Meridies was launched on March
27th 1937, an event that was reported in both The Motor
Boat and Yachting World journals.

In June 1940, after only three years cruising with her owner
and his family, she was requisitioned for war service, in
exchange for the sum of £1,960. For five years she
served in and around the Bristol Channel area, acting as
an estuary patrol vessel, until she was returned to her
owner in September 1945.
