At nearly 46’ in length, Meridies is a fine example of the ‘Silverleaf’ type motor yacht built by the James A. Silver yard at Rosneath, Scotland.

Designed by John Bain and built for the Commodore of the Severn Motor Yacht Club, Mr. H.L. Brookes, Meridies was launched on March 27th 1937, an event that was reported in both The Motor Boat and Yachting World journals.

In June 1940, after only three years cruising with her owner and his family, she was requisitioned for war service, in exchange for the sum of £1,960. For five years she served in and around the Bristol Channel area, acting as an estuary patrol vessel, until she was returned to her owner in September 1945.
